Village Barn Carpets is a full service retail floor covering store. We have been family owned and operated since 1968 – that’s over 42 years of experience. We carry a large selection of carpet, vinyl, wood, laminate, and area rugs. Whether you want to do it yourself or have our experienced installation crews install it for you, we will work with you to find the perfect floor to fit your style and budget and make your home or office a reflection of you.

Our History

After many years of installing for other stores, Lewis Schipono moved north and opened his own store in a converted barn in Imlay City in 1967. At first he did all the selling, measuring, and installations himself. As business grew he expanded his inventory and hired more installers. He brought in his son and daughter, David and Candy, who carry on Lewis’s philosophy of a multitude of flooring choices at competitive prices, expert installation, and great customer service. We have since moved out of our original barn and moved to our present location on the corner of Hunters Creek Rd. and Van Dyke.
